Having already co-founded a successful entrepreneurial endeavor in the tech space, Philip brings a wealth of expertise to Ascent, including a strong background in business, marketing and essential hands-on experience in the production and engineering side of the cannabis industry. Philip holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing from Simon Fraser University.






Imre Kovacs

Founding Partner / Director, Quintet Ventures

Imre has been a leader in the emerging legalized cannabis market for over 15 years. A seasoned entrepreneur, Imre founded his first company while attending university, and later designed, built, and operated Canada’s first municipally-licensed medical cannabis dispensary in Vernon, BC, which set the blueprint for other dispensaries to follow. Imre brings a wealth of expertise including a strong background in business and invaluable hands-on experience with production, engineering, and consumer retail development within thecannabis space.






Danny Dalla Longa

CEO / Co-Founder, Flurotech

Danny brings over 35 years of corporate finance & valuation experience. He was a partner at a major international accounting firm for over 18 years. He also served as an MLA, as the energy critic in the Alberta Legislature. Dalla-Longa holds a B.Comm. degree in Chartered Business Valuation, is a Certified Business Appraiser and has a Chartered Accountant designation..






Mariana Wolff

CANNABIS COMPLIANCE, APIC, Innovate Phytoceuticals Inc.


Mariana is a proponent of plant science, in particular, the biosynthesis and industrial use of plant natural products. Her academic background is in the study of biosynthetic pathways of plant specialized metabolites, specifically terpenoids. She enjoys digging into the detail of what constitutes plant volatile profiles. Her career background includes agriculture and cannabis research and consulting. During her time at the Pacific Agriculture Research Center, Mariana contributed to the maintenance of the Canadian Plant Virus Collection and the study of entomopathogenic fungi in Okanagan vineyards. Mariana has long been an enthusiast of the rapidly evolving cannabis industry in Canada and is strategically placed to receive updates to the regulations prior to publication. She is the Cannabis Compliance lead at Innovate Phytoceuticals as well the project lead for regulatory contracts with all LP clients and assists at all stages of licensing and on-going compliance.






Sharan Sidhu

CEO, QPIC, Innovate Phytoceuticals Inc.


Sharan Sidhu is the Founder and Director of Regulatory Affairs and Head of Product Innovation at Innovate Phytoceuticals. She is a regulatory affairs specialist in several industries including the Cannabis Industry in North America and services clients globally. Her academic background in research combined with her experience in pharmaceutical clinical trials allows her to bring a unique prospective to product development, and create innovative and clinically affective products. She also manages methods development for Innovate Phytoceuticals as well as numerous companies and testing protocols to contribute to industry standards. Sharan assists in all facets of GMP from developing procedures, control documents and GMP/GLP training as well as vendor qualifications and stability data analysis and completion of stability studies. Sharan is on several regulatory advisory boards and expert panels and serves as a consultant for the board of many private companies. She has successfully advised and aided a number of licensed producers with cannabis product concept development within the current regulatory framework. Considering the changing landscape, she is envisioning the need for innovative product development for both the recreational and medicinal market.

With over 25 years of experience in international trade, Maurizio is the only independent, certified LP agent to broker cannabis to the EU markets, through the European Chamber of Commerce and holds an export permit granted under the ACMPR to act as an agent for registered LP's.

A former Two-Term MLA, former Minister of Justice, Attorney General, Solicitor General, Minister of Housing and Alberta Government House Leader, Jonathan Denis is a respected legal expert former legislator, and lobbyist. His interest in the legal Cannabis space is ensuring a proper balance between the rights of legitimate Cannabis business owners, and public safety.






Hart Steinfeld

Hart has a deep unbridled passion and admiration for cannabis, and has been on a constant quest for more knowledge and deeper understanding of cannabis and its medicinal properties for well over 20 years. Working in the legal cannabis industry since 2015, Hart was the first employee hired at Natural Health Services, and played an integral role in creating one of Canada's largest medical cannabis clinics. As a startup, he wore every hat at NHS except physician -- much to his mother's dismay. During his time at NHS, Hart's role was mainly patient-focused. In this capacity he connected with literally thousands of patients, educating, guiding and answering questions on cannabis and its healing properties. In fact, if you were a patient in Calgary before June 2017, you've likely already met Hart. Hart is co-host, writer and creative thinker for 'The Cannabis Show', a weekly YouTube series that focuses on cannabis education in a smart, entertaining and engaging way. The show was winner of the 2017 Canadian Cannabis Award for best Podcast. Currently, Hart is the Western Canada Community Engagement Manager for one of the top Licensed Producers, The Hydropothecary.






Sherman Dahl

Mr. Dahl is a seasoned investor and financier who is well versed in finance and marketing strategies for small cap private and public Canadian companies. Mr. Dahl has expertise in identifying undervalued companies and introducing these opportunities to his buy-side network of clients, strategic co-investors and marketing participants. As a specialist in raising money for small cap companies including the cannabis space, Dahl has a proven record of being able to raise capital and increase investor awareness and liquidity. Mr. Dahl was previously a vice-president and investment advisor with National Bank Financial, a leading Canadian investment dealer. In addition to managing a $150-million retail book and achieving Chairman's Council level, Mr. Dahl participated in numerous capital raises totalling over $150-million directly for various issuers with total issuer financings of 1$ billion on behalf of retail and institutional clients over a 20-year career. Pretium Communications is an advisory and consulting firm based in Vernon, B.C. Pretium Holdings also owns and operates restaurants and media print businesses in Vernon, B.C. Mr. Dahl holds a bachelor of business administration (Economic and Finance Major) degree from the University of Regina. He is a seed investor in CHOOM HOLDINGS and INMED PHARMA.






Arnold Warkentin

Arnold has spent his adult years trying to satisfy an insatiable desire to learn. After progressing from personal trainer to Registered Massage Therapist, Arnold then completed a Bachelors of Health Science and started his counselling psychology masters. Never fully satisfied, Arnold continues to spend his days developing his understanding of health management, mental health, and personal growth. Arnold presents scientifically-sound and empirically-supported information to guide current and future consumers of cannabinoids. Informed High focuses on utilizing THC and Recreational Cannabis for therapeutic purposes and personal development. Informed High is a practical resource for all things related to health and wellness and Cannabis. Arnold wants Millennials and Baby Boomers to become informed about cannabis. He hopes to help overcome years of stigma, stereotypes and discrimination. In this emerging cannabis economy, businesses need to not only understand the science of cannabis but also personal and psychological experiences with Cannabis. All while being compliant with Health Canada standards and municipal bylaws. Arnold will discuss these regulations along with explaining essential Cannabis terminology and how current trends may impact the future of the Cannabis economy.

Founder and Portfolio Manager of StoneCastle Investment Management Inc. and a former portfolio manager for some of the largest investment dealers in Canada and the U.S., Bruce brings over 25 years of experience to fund management. A graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in finance, Bruce has earned multiple designations in investment management. These include the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, one of the most prestigious designations in the financial industry. Bruce is a past president of the Okanagan CFA society.






Darcy Bomford

With over three decades of executive management experience and a 30-year history of manufacturing pet products in three federally inspected plants throughout the USA and Canada, Darcy is highly adept at building brands through corporate vision, strategy and the successful development of relationships with team members and strategic partners. Founded in 2013, True Leaf has two main operating divisions: True Leaf Medicine Inc. and True Leaf Pet Inc. The company’s goal is to provide federally-approved medicinal cannabis products that will be sold across Canada and the United States.






Adrian Robinson

Director, Quality Green


Adrian is a strategic entrepreneur with pursuits in real estate investment, hospitality management and cannabis facility operations for over a decade. His hands-on approach has provided extensive knowledge in all facets of business development, from initial concept to fostering relationships with industry leaders and government agencies. A Royal Roads University graduate, Adrian is focusing his innovative thinking and management expertise to the emerging medical cannabis industry. With more than 15 years of experience in the cannabis space, Adrian is a founding member of the Cannabis Trade Alliance of Canada (CTAC), a not-for-profit organization supporting the development of a safe and ethical and inclusive cannabis industry.






Corby Marshall

Successful executive and leader with extensive marketing, sales, financing experience and a West Point Graduate and Former US Army Officer. Corby Marshall is the Chief Executive Officer of Hilltop Cybersecurity. Prior to joining the company, Corby was Senior Vice President of Alliances and Partnerships for AppOrbit; where he developed and led the go-to-market programs for all consulting, reseller, and solution partners. He previously led sales, consulting, marketing, and operations for several leading companies, including Metastorm (OpenText), Mercator (IBM), Niku and LabCorp. Corby is an expert at developing new programs and leading through transformational change; skills he honed during his service as an Airborne-qualified, Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army. Corby is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
